The Cup and Handle Forex Trading Strategy

I have found that following this pattern can help you identify opportunities in the forex market that you might otherwise have missed. This strategy is straightforward and easy to apply and will take a little practice to master. Before we get into the actual strategy, it is important to define just what the cup-and-handle pattern is…

Cup and handle is a technical pattern form in forex trading which is visualized as a cup with a portion of the height of the cup on the left forming a handle. Cup and handle patterns are generally measured from the top of the cup to its bottom. The pattern includes three sections, but only two sections (Upper Shadow, Lower Shadow, and Lower Extension) are necessary for its completion. The formation resembles an inverted letter “U” in shape, with the long lower shadow that forms the stem of the “U” and with the short-lived upper shadow representing a short dash.
